More than a mountain lodge, Kliprivier is a place created for people seeking nature, meaningful connection and a slower way of living.
Kliprivier Mountain Lodge began with a simple belief: people aren't meant to do life alone.
After years of exploring different ways people live, travel and build community, David came to one clear conclusion — what many of us are missing isn't another self-improvement course or productivity hack.
It's genuine human connection.
In 2025, he purchased this peaceful five-hectare smallholding in Swellendam with a vision of creating something different. Not just accommodation, but a place where travellers from around the world could experience life in nature, share stories around a campfire, cook together, explore the mountains and simply enjoy being part of a welcoming community.
Set at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, Kliprivier combines the freedom of travel with the feeling of belonging.
A place where you can arrive as a guest and leave feeling like part of the family.

Meet Alma
Chief Welcome Officer
Alma's name means "Soul" in Spanish, and that's exactly what she brings to Kliprivier.
Gentle, calm and endlessly friendly, our Spanish Mastiff is usually the first to welcome guests and the last to say goodbye.
Whether she's stretching out in the sunshine, hoping for a belly rub, or joining everyone around the fire, Alma has a remarkable way of making people feel at home.
She's even converted a few self-proclaimed "dog people only from a distance" into lifelong fans.
Around here, she's more than a mascot.
She's family.

Life at Kliprivier
No two days are exactly the same.
Some mornings begin with a cold plunge in the river, followed by coffee overlooking the mountains.
Others start with yoga on the lawn or a hike through the Langeberg.
Afternoons might be spent working remotely beneath the trees, exploring Swellendam, riding mountain bikes or relaxing in a hammock with a good book.
As the sun sets, people naturally gather.
Stories are shared.
Meals are cooked.
The fire is lit.
And strangers often leave as friends.
