What was once a peaceful 5-hectare smallholding has been thoughtfully transformed into Kliprivier Mountain Lodge—a place where travellers can slow down, reconnect with nature, and feel at home.
After purchasing the property in 2025, David set out with a simple vision: to create more than just accommodation. He wanted to build a welcoming mountain retreat where backpackers, road trippers, digital nomads, hikers, and nature lovers could share experiences, embrace the outdoors, and become part of a genuine community.
Nestled in the beautiful Hermitage Valley at the foot of the majestic Langeberg Mountain Range, Kliprivier offers the perfect balance of tranquillity and adventure. Scenic hiking trails, mountain biking routes, rivers, and many of Swellendam's most loved outdoor attractions are all just a few minutes away.
Of course, no visit would be complete without meeting Alma, our gentle Spanish Mastiff and proud Chief Welcome Officer. Always ready with a wagging tail and a warm greeting, Alma has quickly become the heart and mascot of Kliprivier, making every guest feel like they've arrived home.
